I want to document my journey through Pop'n Music. Just because I have nothing better to do. That's a lie. I could be making character pages. But I don't really feel like doing that right now. I wanna do this instead. Sorry!

DECEMBER 2021

My first songs listened to were Perditus Paradisus and Oto, courtesy of my friend Fruity (in a server we shared, he made a music channel to send some songs to).
He sent Angelion, I listened to it, I got Kirby vibes. And then Creator, and False Marchen, and then a whole bunch more songs. I was taking it all in like a sponge at this point. It was some good fucking music. My Puyo brainrot at the time made me call Yima's Eclale song a Legamunt song. What.
Eventually he also made a channel for Pop'n itself to ramble in. I didn't use this until near the end of the month, when I began playing Portable 2. That's the real beginning of the end.
My first favorite character was Kojirou. And then I heard Ayumu's song. And then she became my favorite.

JANUARY 2022

Got my hands on arcade data. I began playing Pop'n in the worst way imaginable. Row setup.
Ayumu was my main, but I also played as others. Kojirou, Risette, Marin, MZD (Votum), Sail, I think Albireo... My memory of this time is actually really foggy. For reasons.
Joined a Pop'n server. Vibed.

FEBRUARY 2022

Like last month, my memory of this time is also foggy. Still for reasons.
Learned a little bit about Nia and Toa. I didn't like that their Lapistoria outfits were so revealing, so I redesigned their outfits a little. I still draw these designs to this day.
Toa very quickly shot up to favorite- Nia would take some time to warm up to.
Also learned about Pisce, an Usaneko character who shares my birthday. She also became a favorite.
Also began drawing Jade. I was horrible at drawing Jade. I was also very mean to him. Knowing what I know about him now, I regret that.
Fuga figurine obtained from Walmart Online.

MARCH 2022

An incident occured. I left the Pop'n servers I joined and became an island. This is a low I would rather not discuss in detail. IYKYK.
To recover from the incident, I began to learn more about Lapistoria. The servers I left didn't like Lapistoria, but I wanted to give it a chance. I think. That or it just intrigued me.
Translations of anything after a certain point didn't exist. I wanted to know more. A new (at the time) mutual on Twitter provided me with a rough translation of the second half of Lapistoria, and I understood everything.
Toa got Bossa Gabba. I was very happy about it. That was probably when he became the Big Favorite.

A bit out of order on the timeline, but she couldn't have known what was to come...

APRIL 2022

Newly found brainrot continues.
Began drawing Pop'n characters as dragons for fun. I am really stretching the definition of dragon with those designs.
I found data for more games, including Lapistoria. That one I found specifically on the 22nd. That is the day I changed forever.
Even before that, though, data for it still exists in the files so I had begun to root around in there. I set the cutscene still for To Lapistoria as my computer background. Fuga holds Discord in his hand and it amuses me even today.
"I will Only be playing as Risette." I held true to this for a while. She's got the highest friendship meter on my card.
Actually, fun(?) fact: I dropped my laptop and cracked the screen like 2 days before I found Lapistoria data. That kinda really sucked, but I got it repaired eventually.

I can't look at the dark portraits for the twins, but ask me to draw them and I can do that just fine. Weird, isn't it? Anyways, lapis scars. It gets worse later!

MAY 2022

My translation endeavors began with Eclale and Usaneko's Rainbow Stage. I need to revisit those...
Love Premonition was the first actual Lapistoria story I translated. The first draft was very rough compared to what I have here today, but it was a start.
Speaking of "here," I got this site's URL up on the 16th of this year! Save the date! I clearly didn't and thought it was the 17th! Progress was slow until I realized I could just. Record the story footage.
I established one of my many headcanon agendas- Jade and Navi from Usaneko are friends.

In Eclale, you can give characters chocolate to boost their friendship meter. I learned this the hard way and Toa shot up 10 whole hearts.

I THEN PROCEEDED TO SPEND THE ENTIRE SUMMER AND THEN SOME TRANSLATING LAPISTORIA FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT

I'd say something of note happened in this time, but eh... not really... I did dive into crackships even more... My main one these days (Nia/Rinka) has a very mysterious origin date. I have no idea when I actually started with that. The other one (Takuto/Toa) was brewing in my head way before that though lol
But a fun fact: at the point in the story where the twins got brainwashed, I actually had to put a blanket over my screen so I wouldn't have to see them.
Yes, it got that bad. Leave me alone.

Also, can't believe I forgot to say this, but I got the Retsu figurine in July. Furetsu became real

OCTOBER 2022

After 5 grueling months of translation, I finally finished the main story (playing and translating) on the 1st of the month. The game had become inexorable from me. It still is! I have unfinished business!
I FC'd Anelis Hyper when playing it for the first time on Lapistoria! I cried!

AND AFTER THAT?

After that... I've just sorta been taking it easy. I keep track of things going on in Pop'n, I play the sidestories when I feel like it, I extend the two worlds through my drawings (no matter how strange they might be) and I eventually found my way into a Pop'n community aside from my close friends I felt way more comfortable in. I'm better now than I was then.
I've been into Pop'n for close to 2 years at the time I make this page, but this shit's changed me. More so than any other fandom has, probably.

I don't have anything profound to say, except... I kinda hope you can feel the passion I have for Lapistoria? This game did help me a lot at my low in March of 2022, and through lesser things following that. Despite all the scorn it might get, it still holds a special place in my heart.
The entire anime era of Pop'n does, really, but Lapistoria is the one that stuck with me, and the one I stuck with.

As written in Sumire's Win animation, I'm grateful to everyone for every encounter.
