...huh? Mr. Roku? | |
Well, if it isn't Yuzuru. What's new? |
There's a ceremony at the local shrine today. * |
A ceremony, huh... |
Right! I just thought of something good! | |
Oh? What is it? | |
First things first, let's get to the shrine. I'll go with you, 'kay? |
O-okay...? |
(* The specific word Yuzuru uses, 奉射会 (houshakai? I wish Lapistoria had furigana so bad...), is apparently a word that doesn't see a lot of use even among native Japanese speakers. Research on what this means has been very difficult as a result. However, kyudo does see use in religious ceremonies, so he's likely referring to something like that. It's been interesting reading up, but I can't provide much more in context...)

Um... what was that good something you thought of...? | |
Don't be too shocked when you hear it. You'll be shooting arrows, right? Then I'll cut them in half with my sword. |
Whaddya think? Everyone who comes to see the ceremony will be so impressed with us that we'll get some coin! |
Th-that's kind of... Cutting my arrows is a bit much...
Is that so? Then instead of cutting them, I can catch them with my bare hands... |
Catching them?! But what if you get hurt...? |
We can always use whistling arrows, yeah? |
It should be possible with those... but unfortunately, I don't have any on hand... |
Don't worry. I've got a bunch of 'em. |
Why did you have them to begin with...
ENGLISH | JAPANESE | |
---|---|---|
Why are you doing this, exactly...? |
Weeell, I saw a nice-looking brush for sale the other day...
Trying to make money at a shooting ceremony... You'll anger the gods doing that! |
Don't worry so much! Y'know how they also put plays on at shrines and pay the performers for it? We're doing the same thing here.
I suppose... |
Let's just give it a shot. I'll even make some calligraphy for you when we're done! |
Hrm... I suppose I have no other choice... |

Ack?! Watch out!! | |
ドゴッ | ||
Oh no! A-are you okay?! | |
What're you doing?! That thing almost punched a hole in my stomach!! | |
Whistling arrows are harder to handle because their heads are heavier than usual. Besides, with your reflexes, you'll be fine, Mr. Roku. |
You're kinda scary, kid... Whatever, just try it one more time! |
Right! This time...! |
